Welcome Home!

We are in Phoenix!! The picture is a snapshot of us entering Arizona. Wow, what a ride! In the last two weeks we have been in 11 states and traveled 3500 miles! It has been an awesome journey that is more than mere geographic in nature. Mary and I have enjoyed our time together and have appreciated all the opportunities to learn and grow as we move from place to place and from encounter to encounter!

Yesterday, we went through the beautiful city of Albuquerque…as I have said before we are excited by new places and new experiences. We stopped at Walmart for a quick oil change and and looked for a quick bite to eat. We were walking over to Chik-fil-a, one of our favorite lunch spots (they have the best sweet tea!) when I saw the picture below in the back ground and had to snap a pic. I love the clouds above the mountains.

But, in spite of all the places we have been, we were so excited to get here that we pressed on through the day to arrive. I know it was probably foolish to try to travel that far through two time zones but we were excited to arrive. We had a fun time around the curves in Flagstaff and finally came off the turns and hills and entered the valley!

So, here’s my thought as I drove into the city: We are home! There was a mixture of excitement and trepidation in that thought. So, many new things waiting for us. So, many new people to meet! So many new challenges! So many possibilities! So much unknown! We are ready for this new chapter in our lives but we feel a little like space explorers entering a strange new world. Captain Kirk in Star Trek coined the phrase, “to boldly go where no one has gone before.” That is how it kind of feels to us. We can’t wait for this “boat ride” but we know we might get a little sea sick…until we get our sea legs.

So, here we go! Come what may, we are leaping off the cliff, trusting that God will help us take the steps necessary not only to help us grow but to lead others to grow as well! We hope to help others discover their way back home, to be reconnected with God and others! We think we are ready for what that looks like, here in the valley of the Sun! Regardless, it is good to be home!!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…in all your way acknowledge Him and he will make your path straight…. Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
