Family Ties

I leave tomorrow to go back to Michigan to visit my dad and step mom for a week. My dad has had a very tough week losing his colon on Wednesday. This is on the heels of congestive heart failure. But, thankfully, he kept his life.

So, I knew he needed me to come and see him. I hope to be an extra encouragement to him. So, its back to the cold Midwest and my family.

There is something about family. They have emotional and physical connections with us that no one else has. They are critically important to us in so many ways. We care about them in unique ways. They may even be annoying at times. They definitely have their “hooks” in us.

I recognize that in spite of all the ups and downs of family relationships, I wouldn’t want to live without my family. They are part of me and I wouldn’t want to go through life without them. Bottom line, I love them. So, a few days in snowy Michigan is the least I can do really. What about you?

I agree, families can bring so much joy and pain. I know that you "need" to go and see him as much as he "needs" you to come and see him. I will be praying for your whole family during this emotional time. I pray that you will all discover peace during this storm. Thanks for being you!!
