What a fantastic event tonight! We had the Winter Wonder Palooza at our church! Crazy good time with some simple fun: bonfire, hot chocolate, carol singing, smore’s, cookie decorating, pictures with Santa, popcorn, hotdogs, horse drawn carriage rides and of course… snow!
That’s right we had snow in Phoenix! Alright, it was the manmade stuff but it was still tons of fun. When the temperature is in the 70’s earlier in the day, being able to throw a snow ball is pretty awesome.
Kids were actually sliding down a snow/ice hill… it was a pretty small hill but still they loved it. It was such a blast just enjoying ourselves with some of the simple pleasures of roasting a marshmallow around a fire. We had a ton of guests with maybe close to 400 people enjoying the night.
As I took a picture on Santa’s lap (yes, I am still a big kid at heart), I was reminded how much fun it is to simply play! You don’t have to spend a tons of money to have a good time. It can be a simple as throwing some frosting on a cookie or throwing a snow ball at your dad!
Christmas is really all about these kinds of simple things! Don’t allow the complexities of the season still the joy of being like a kid even if you are no longer one. Don’t act your age! Get young and experience the fun! And maybe then, you will know the kind of life the baby Jesus came to initiate.
