The big game is over! One team won and the other went home disappointed. Great win! Tough loss! But, why did it happen. Obviously, because one team did better than the other. But, was there a determining factor?
Besides the fact that one quarterback did better than the other quarterback and one defense did better than the other defense and one coach made better decisions than the other, was there anything else?
One of the key factors was turnovers. The team that won did not turn the ball over or in other words did not lose the ball. The other team turned the ball over three times leading to three scores by the team that ultimately won the game.
So, that one factor may have made the ultimate difference in a six point loss. All things considered in football holding onto the ball when you are in offense is an important step toward victory.
How does that relate to real life? I think that often we “lose the ball” or fail to do the things we need to do to stay focused on the goal. We forget to guard against the enemy. We let down our guard.
We forget to make sure we never forget the mission God has given us. We need to take one step at a time in our journey making sure we keep our eyes on the goal line. It is a long journey. We have to play the whole game. We have to keep fighting for what is right and continue to protect ourselves from what is wrong.
Let’s hold onto the ball regardless. Remember, it ain’t over till it’s over!
