My car is quiet! I know that isn’t earth shattering news for most of you but it certainly is a big deal to me. It means that my car’s tranny is no longer making noises that scares the neighbors.
Due to the gracious gift of some incredible friends, I was able to get my car fixed. It now works like it is supposed to work. Great news… now, I don’t have to put my radio as loud as a jet plane in order to drown out the other noise.
I guess I had gotten used to the noise. In a weird way, I kind of miss it. Well, maybe miss it is incorrect. Actually, I discovered the last few days that the noise from my car was actually drowning out other sights and sounds.
I actually didn’t know some of the things outside my car window that I had been missing. In trying to drown out the noise, I actually was drowning out the good stuff.
Sometimes, we need to quiet our hearts and our souls and simply pay attention to what will come our way. We have to step away from the noise and simply open our hearts.
David in Psalms 46 says it this way:
“Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, Bans war from pole to pole, breaks all the weapons across his knee. “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.”
It is great to get away from of the distractions in order to focus on God and what He might be trying to say to us. Get quiet! See what you might be missing!
