Hometown: Born in Ruston, LA, Raised in Jackson, MS and Huntington, WV
Family: Mary, my wife, Son Josh who is married to Bethany and lives in Chicago and are expecting their first child, a son (our second grandson… yahoo!), Daughter Jessica who is married to Chris and lives in Grand Rapids, MI and has given birth to our first grandson, Skler (great looking kid… looks like his grandpa!); Melinda who just graduated from Anderson University and is working in the Indianapolis, Indiana area

How did you come to North Hills?: I was looking for a place where I could help lead a church through a turn around situation. Many of my experiences, personally and in ministry, over the last few years have prepared me for a place like North Hills. I was pastoring in KC when God provided opportunities for the two of us, North Hills and my wife and I, to connect. It became clear that we were falling in love!
What is your role here?: I lead the team, both paid and unpaid staff, to find God’s mission for the world around us in North Phoenix, helping people find freedom!
What’s the best part about your role?: Everything! However, I love it when individuals “catch it” and become hungry for God’s best in their lives. I love helping the church recapture a vision for the future. I love helping people reach their full potential!

Hobbies: Golf, Reading, Writing, Sports of all kinds, Hanging out with my wife and friends
Passions: I am passionate about my wife and kids. I am passionate about helping people embrace their true image as God’s kids! I am passionate about helping the church make lasting impact in the world!
If you were an animal, what would you be?: Probably a chimpanzee; they can make you laugh one minute and rip your arm off the next (not sure if that makes sense)
Favorite book: Impossible to name one: a Few from different genres would be The Shack by William Young, Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz, Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels, The Wounded Healer by Henri Nouwen
Favorite artist/band: Again, very tough call but I would probably pick U2 or Coldplay… at the moment
What makes you laugh?: Just about everything but my kids always say and do stuff that gives me deep belly laughs!
Favorite Superhero: I am a Batman fan since he really has no super powers just a super cool car.
What’s your favorite place on earth?: The mountains! God just seems more tangible there!
Anything else fun or interesting about you?: I talk during movies, I cry during movies, I hold hands with my wife during movies, I eat buttery popcorn (all the time) but especially during movies!
