We believe that God created this universe and this planet we live on, and yet his best and most important creation was you and I. We are created in His image and He loves us and wants to have a relationship with each of us.
We believe it is our choice whether or not we have a relationship with God. He won’t force that on us and yet He continues to “woo” us, similar to a long lost lover. At some point, each of us have decided to say “no” to God and go our own way, forsaking his offer of love. That is what is commonly called “sin.”
We believe that Jesus, God in the flesh, came to earth to help us do something we couldn’t do for ourselves. We needed someone to bridge the gap that we had created (by our sin) between God and us. Jesus died as a sacrifice for our sins, but then rose from the dead! This free gift is what makes it possible for us to be forgiven for our unfaithfulness, and allow us the opportunity to come back to God. That is what we call grace – the gift of freedom and forgiveness, even though we didn’t earn it and don’t deserve it.
We believe that we can have a new beginning by confessing our sin, turning away from our old way of doing things and accepting God’s gift of mercy and forgiveness. We begin a new relationship with God through his son Jesus.
We believe that when we accept this new gift of relationship with God, He comes to dwell in our lives through his Holy Spirit. Our Spirit connects with God’s Spirit in a wonderful new way that gives us the power to live our lives with peace, hope and love.
We believe that God’s Holy Spirit gives us special abilities or gifts that help us serve the world in specific ways. God has a unique plan for each of us and wants us to make a huge difference in the lives of others.
We believe that Jesus started the Church as a way to reach the mission of building his kingdom, by helping people come back to God. Every local church is a part of this plan, and we need each other’s support and encouragement in order to complete the mission.
We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired message to us. It helps us understand God’s plan for our lives and has been given so that we can more effectively follow Jesus.
We believe that someday this world as we know it will come to an end and those who have accepted God’s offer of relationship will live with Him forever.
