Baptism

Our next baptism is February 5th!  Call us at 602-863-6040 to sign up!

Have you ever seen those old commercials where someone is falling backwards into a pool or a lake? It’s usually in slow motion and the person looks completely relaxed and at peace. The caption usually reads something like “Taking the plunge!”

That is kind of what baptism looks and feels like. The difference is that it is a way for us to identify ourselves as one of Christ’s followers. The feeling is somewhat indescribable! It feels fantastic! And, you have a memory that will stay with you forever.

Baptism is an ancient practice that still has freshness for people today. It was established by Jesus as a way for His followers to show others through a simple act that they were different, that they were one of His.

By ‘taking the plunge’, we tell friends and family that we are forever connected with Jesus. It’s kind of like a wedding ceremony. We’re using this symbol of being washed clean to make our decision and commitment something public for all to see.

At North Hills, we believe people are baptized after they start a new relationship with God; it is something they do when they are old enough to understand the commitment they are making. We allow kids, students and adults to make this move, as long as they are ready and communicate the reason they are doing it.

We offer classes to make sure people are ready for this step. We are especially careful to make sure younger kids are ready. It’s not something we take lightly!

We offer baptism 3-4 times during the year.  Need more information? Feel free to download this PDF (coming soon!).
